Michael Mirro, M.D., is the Chief Academic Research Officer at the Mirro Center for Research and Innovation Clinical Research Center of Parkview Hospital, located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine and an Adjunct Professor of Bioinformatics at Indiana University. He previously served as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Iowa with a Research/Teaching position as a cellular electrophysiologist/molecular biologist. Dr Mirro has published over 50 peer reviewed scientific articles and serves on the editorial board for the Cardiovascular Digital Health Journal.
Dr. Mirro is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, American College of Cardiology, American College of Chest Physicians. He has received board certification in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, cardiac electrophysiology, and geriatric medicine.
Dr. Mirro is a former Trustee to the American College of Cardiology (ACC), past Chair of the ACC Health Informatics Committee and past member of the ACC/HRS ICD Registry Steering Committee.
Currently, Dr Mirro serves as a Trustee for Indiana University (2014-2023: President of BOT- 2017-2021) and serves on the IU Health and IU Foundation Boards. He is an active member of the BioCrossroads and 16 Tech Board of Directors.
Dr. Mirro has been actively involved in the Indiana business community having served as Chairman of the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce, founding board chair of the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center. Dr. Mirro served as a member of Indiana University Presidential Economic Development Cabinet. Currently, he serves on the Deans Advisory Council for the IU School of Informatics/Computing/Engineering.
Currently, Dr Mirro is Chair of NE-Indiana Elevate Ventures Board of Directors and He is a past member of the board of advisors of Centerfield Capital Partners, a Founding Director of Tower Bank, a Founding General Partner of the Paladin Global Ventures Life Science Fund, Senior Advisor to Aledo Consulting and a past board member of Medical Informatics Engineering. Currently, Dr Mirro is a Board member of Zorion Medical (a Bioabsorbable Stent Company), Medical Director of VisCardia in Beverton,OR (Implantable CHF Device) and serves as a Scientific Advisor for iRhythm, Murj both Medical Technology companies and Bailard Emerging Life Sciences Fund all located in the SF Bay area.
